Ohayo! If you'll remember, last time we discussed kya, kyu and kyo. Of course there are more ya, yu and yo digraphs. So today we'll continue to practice with sha, shu and sho.
Let's take a look at our digraph chart again:
しゃ sha sounds like the beginning sound of shop or shot (sha)
しゅ shu sounds like the beginning sound of shoot or the word shoe しょ sho sounds like a short version of the beginning sound of show (shoh)
Here are some words that contain the sha, shu and sho digraphs:
かいしゃ kaisha = company (like in business) らいしゅ raishu = next week ちょうしょく choushoku (chō shoku) = breakfast
It won't hurt to review the pronunciation of the digraphs again in the Japanesepod101.com video below. The digraph section begins at 1:45:
And that's it for this week. Here's another practice writing sheet for you. Until next week. Mata raishu.
See how useful the Japanesepod101.com lessons are. When you're a premium member you get access to a whole lot more than the free YouTube videos. You get thousands of dialogues and line by line audio transcripts so you can read along as you hear the audio lessons.
