Well, since I can NOT afford a new computer, I opted for a new-ish video card. So, I purchased a discounted XFX Radeon 4550 and it has been a breeze to use and install. Ok, not exactly. I blew my power supply after installation (that might explain why my machine sounded like it was a helicopter taking off for the last few months) but that's ok. A cheap, new 500 w power supply later and my machine is whisper quiet and the graphics quality on my video games and movie viewing is phenomenal!
My only regret is that I was so sick with a head/chest cold, and the flu on top of that, to appreciate what it might have done for my World of Warcraft gameplay (my subscription lapsed during my month-long bout with cold and flu). But I'll let you know how awesome WoW looks with my new graphics card as soon as I can afford to resubscribe.

Ok, couponing has led me to reading couponing blogs and one of them mentioned getting giftcards from a site called Swagbucks. So, I joined. "What do I have to lose?" I said. Give a little personal info and get gift cards, right?
Well, I can't say whether it works or not because I only have 91 SBs and they don't really get you much at that level. But I'll keep you posted if I get anything I can actually use. Btw, if you use my Swagbucks Link below, I get more Swagbucks! So, why not? Go for it! Yes, this is my first post of the New Year. And as posts go, this will probably be a short one.
I just spent the latter part of the evening using CyberPower's PC Configurator ... just for fun! Yes, maybe I am a geek wanna-be. But, I love building PC's online, deciding what components they'll have and imagining what it would be like to own such a suped-up system. All I know is that one day (if ever I can afford it), I will build my dream PC for real. But for now, it's nice to dream. ************ Note to the Weebly creators out there: I just had to code my own html to put a link to CyberPower's website below because Weebly would NOT let me just highlight text and create a link within this text box. Apparently, sometimes it's very nice to be able to code your own HTML. Website referenced is: |
