This is not a rant about my banking institution, or other banking institutions who move your accounts around and do things without explaining all the terrible things that might happen when two banks become one. All I know is that sometimes you really need to speak to a real, live customer service rep. But, all you get is the bleeping automated system. You push all the numbers hoping against hope that somehow it will connect you with a real live person. Except those automated systems have fail safes in place for just that occasion. So pressing zero won't necessarily get you anything but more frustration in the form of, "That is not a valid option." I'm sure you know what I mean. And, to make it even more upsetting, if you push the wrong choices to many times that automated voice tells you that you don't have the proper information and that you'll have to hang up and call back when you do. And, taking the choice away from you, it hangs up on you before you get a chance to slam the phone down for yourself. Today, after several phone calls and hangups, I was about to give up. Then, this morning I punched the number zero so many times I lost count and lo and behold it connected me to a person. Yes, I actually spoke to a live voice who was able to put me on the path to solving my problem. She was helpful and tried hard to figure out my problem. She was able to give me some information. But somehow all the pieces of my problem weren't coming together to be solved. This morning and tonight, after calling my banking institution, who shall remain nameless, and getting computerized voice after computerized voice, I tried going to the website. And after failing miserably there, I finally (by accident) stumbled upon a number for online technical support that led me to a real live operator/representative. Now, sometimes telephone reps can be annoying and send you on mindless journeys of telephone tag with other offices.... But, today I actually got someone who was pleasant and helped me solve a problem I'd been trying to solve for days. To that rep who really took the time to research my problem and who set me on the path to solving it--and to that other rep who actually helped me solve it completely all I can say is "Thank You." I bet you get irate customers like me, who've been sent all over the telephone customer support world and who have developed an attitude because of it. Still, you remain calm and you do your best to help us and make us feel better. There aren't very many of you who go the extra step. I just wanted to let you know that we, the customers, appreciate it. Again, Thank You. |
