Hello, Readers. I hope you're enjoying your weekend.
Everyone who has read my blog for some time knows that I use affiliate links and programs to keep the content of my blog free. Well, at least that was the plan anyway. Well, yesterday I got an email from one of my new affiliate programs, Rakuten, telling me my account was suspended and I'm locked out. To date, I've not earned anything but 23 cents from my affiliates, and that was a year ago. I decided to continue anyway, especially with the Learning Japanese series because I would have loved to have had a totally free resource for learning Japanese when I was first beginning and I thought that someone else out there would find it helpful as well. Many times I've considered just closing up shop and letting this series end. However, as it is with helping others learn, I end up helping myself learn. All the research I put into finding the themes for each post, the vocabulary, researching the syntax of the sentences and speech patterns helps me learn new things too. So, I continued. And, I most likely will continue because it makes me feel good to think I've helped someone, even if I'll never see a penny from this endeavor. Going forward, however, I will be adding a notation at the end of each post listing the affiliates I use. Perhaps this is the reason Rakuten suspended my account, perhaps not. However, this way, it's clear that many of the links on this site are affiliate links. And if they're defined clearly on each and every post there can be no amiguity. I thank you for reading my blog. I hope it's been informative and helpful. I appreciate each and every one of you. And, I'll be back next week with another post in my Learning Japanese series. Until then, gambatte kudasai, please do your best and practice.

Konnichi wa, Mina San! Good afternoon. Today we'll be going over the Japanese words for colors. Please take a look at the chart below: The above chart only shows some of the color names. There are many more colors names in Japanese. Also, the color names above are in the noun form. When talking about the color names in abstract you would just use the noun form. However, some color names change form when used as adjectives and placed before the object being described. For example: red = aka; the red apple = akai ringo blue = ao; the blue book = aoi hon black = kuro; the black shoes = kuroi kutsu yellow = kiiro; the yellow dress = kiiroi doresu white = shiro; the white clouds = shiroi kumo And so on. However if the color word is before the desu, the noun form is used. For example: The yellow dress = kiiroi doresu The dress is yellow = doresu wa kiiro desu Some color words sometimes take a "no" or "の" when used as adjectives, placed before the object being described. If you'll recall "no" denotes possession. For example: 茶色の犬 ちゃいろ の いぬ chairo no inu the brown dog 緑のリンゴ みどり の リンゴ midori no ringo the green apple Let's see some other examples of the usage of these color words: 私の犬は茶色です わたし の いぬ は ちゃいろです Watashi no inu wa chairo desu. My dog is brown. 象は灰色です。 ぞう は はいいろです 。 Zō wa haiiro desu. The elephant is gray. あの猫は白いです 。 あの ねこ は しろいです 。 Ano neko wa shiroi desu. That cat is white. 紫色の本は大きい むらさきいろ の ほん は おうきい Murasaki iro no hon wa ookii. The purple book is big. ピンクの魚は小さい ピンクのさかなはちいさい Pinku no sakana wa chiisai. The pink fish is small. Okay, that's it for this time. Here's a nice video from Japanesepod101.com featuring some colors: Thank you for reading. I appreciate it. For bonus content, please check our my SubscribeStar page. eBay - Japanese Resources, and Books VigLink Japanesepod101.com Google AdSense SubscribeStar Ohayo! I'm happy to say that there will be a post this Wednesday!! Until then, here's a video from Japanesepod101.com reviewing some common animals. It's a bit advanced but it's always good to have the language in your ears. I hope you enjoy it! And, one more. Here's a fun little song I learned in my Japanese class. The lyrics are in the video, but here's the English translation: Red bird, Little Bird by Himawari Red bird, little bird Why, why are you red Because red food is what I eat White bird, little bird Why, why are you white Because white food is what I eat Blue bird, little bird Why, why are you blue Because blue food is what I eat. (Please note that the English varies with different translation sources but the meaning is basically the same.) Thank you for reading. I appreciate each one of you. See you next week!
