I just bought Suzanne Vega's album, Beauty & Crime©, for free on Napster® using Coke Rewards® points. Coke Rewards® used to offer Rhapsody® codes as a reward. However, now they only have Napster. Which is fine by me as long as I can download the MP3s I want.
So if you drink Coca Cola and/or Coke products and want to get points for Napster®, sign up for the Coke Rewards® program. Three cheers for Coke Rewards®! Update (2018): The Coke Rewards program greatly nerfed it's perks and I've since relinquished my membership. All good things at some point come to an end. And we all know what's happened to Napster so ditto for that service.

Yesterday, using my Pavillions/Vons store card, I purchased 5 Hillshire Farms smoked sausages (Vons flyer coupon), 4 small cans of Dole pineapple chunks (manufacturer's coupon), 5 ears of corn (Vons sale), 2 bottle of Wishbone salad dressing (manufacturer's coupon + Vons coupon), 1 vidalia onion (not on sale), 2 12-packs of Lucerne Ice cream (Pavillions flyer coupon), 2 30oz Best Foods mayonnaise (manufacturer's coupon) and 2 packs of Hebrew National Beef Franks (buy one get one free Vons promo) for approx. $28. This earned me one Catalina coupon for $1.00 off the next shopping order, one Catalina coupon for $0.50 off the next order and a Catalina coupon for $1.00 off the next Dole pineapple purchase. **The receipt, which I've unfortunately lost, listed the savings for that one shopping trip as approx. $38.00. Not a bad way to spend a holiday Sunday. And, I used the sausage and hot dogs for my 4th of July BBQ!** Edited: I found the receipt!! So you can see my savings! Now, I have to say that these offers and Catalina coupons are regional. What you might get in So. California you might not get in New York City. There are many coupon bloggers out there who pretty much spell out how to play the coupon game and what deals will yield you the most savings/money off. Check out the Penny Experiment Coupon Blogger List for a list of coupon bloggers that have participated in the Penny Experiment. For a nice description of what Catalina Coupons are check out: ForTheMommas.com Seeing as I have so few readers, I haven't done this in a while. However, I'd like to start my "of the Month" picks again. So, seeing as it is a new month, my website and/or cause of the month is: Penny Experiment, by Jeffrey Strain.
Talk about noble causes. This blog and experiment has already benefited many people. To date, though this number may change, Jeffrey has donated$13,724.39 worth of food to the food bank. The astounding thing is that he only spent $575.99 buying that food!!! Unfortunately, I came on the band wagon later than most but we've still managed to begin accumulating things to donate to the food bank by using his other blog: Eating Well on $1 A Day - Grocery Coupon Guide. Though we haven't amassed the quantities that Jeffrey and others have donated, if we keep at this we might. In the past, I stayed away from the coupon game, getting easily frustrated with stores either refusing them or making up their own rules about how many coupons they accept on the whim of the managers or corporate policies. However, when you start thinking about how much you can give to others using these strategies, the frustration doesn't seem that overwhelming. Besides, I've already gotten many things for free by wise coupon stacking and by using store sales. So gather those coupons, clip them from store ads, from newspaper inserts, find them online and print them out. If you want to try to begin to make a difference in the world around you, take a look at these two blogs and the ideas therein and start today! |
