You may have answered "No," but my answer is a big YES!
Maybe it's because when I hear them I sometimes get flashbacks to 9/11 in NYC when those military planes constantly passed overhead. Back then, the sound was comforting: our country's military patrolling the skies, keeping watch, making sure we were safe. Now, however, it's rather unsettling to hear either helicopters or planes flying too low or circling over my house or at work on a regular basis. I can rationalize the necessity. After all, both my job and my home are near major freeways and the flight paths of the airport. And, there are always traffic and/or accident issues on freeways. Sometimes, though, it makes you wonder why they keep circling over and over and over again. What exactly are they looking at or for? And, do they really need to be circling overhead when I'm out in my yard or garden weeding vegetables? Yes, I know I'm probably just overreacting. Or maybe I'm sensitized to noise. I just wish I could have back the quiet of the small town that I used to have when I was growing up. Even though it was in the middle of the city, there was still so much green that the major noise of the evening was the sound of crickets chirping or frogs croaking. And whatever happened to fireflies (aka lightning bugs)? I remember them being out everywhere during the summer months and I haven't seen a single one in decades. Oh well, before this post turns into a long-winded nostalgia session I'll bring this post to a close. It's all just something to think about anyway.
