She's short, she's stocky but boy can she run. And, run she will through the snow covered, cobbled paths of Loch Modan on quest after quest. Her now pet spider is her faithful companion on her long and arduous journeys. Ah, World of Warcraft®! Who would've thought I'd be playing that pay-to-play classic?! It wouldn't be quite accurate to say that I'm addicted toWorld of Warcraft® gameplay. However, if there were any game out there now that I might be come addicted to, it would be WoW. As always, cost is the prohibiting factor. With the economy being what is it, the raise freezes at work (second year now) and the interest rates on charge card balances, mortgages and other daily life bills taking their chunk of blood money, I cannot foresee playing World of Warcraft® for longer than my two month game card allows. Still, I'm relishing the gaming experience, enjoying the various races and landscapes and gaming challenges and wishing the economy would turn for the better so I can continue to enjoy WoW gameplay. Don't get me wrong, I'm not working to play games. World of Warcraft® is my first pay to play game since I canceled my Runescape account. And, THAT was my only pay to play game ever. (I'm a big believer in free gameplay. There are many, many such candidates out there.) I work to be able to live close to the lifestyle that I've grown accustomed to (ie, eating every day, having a roof over my head, being able to pay for clothing and being able to go out to the occasional restaurant meal, etc.). So with that said, I would like to thankWorld of Warcraft®and all those involved in its creation for providing quality, engaging and challenging gameplay. Hi ho, hi ho it's off to quest I go.... So to get past the mourning (by the way my friend's dog died after suffering from immunity induced severe hemolytic anemia--she was a beautiful girl) of dogs lost and the upheaval of new dogs in the house (and the behavior correction that ensues even now) I've thrown myself into gaming again. This time it's World of Warcraft®. I suppose I never got into WoW during my younger gaming days because it was costly (paying the rent and being able to eat regular meals seemed more important at the time) and because I've never had the time to join a guild or group. Being a group member means being there when you're needed and working full-time sort of prevents being online gaming for great lengths of time. So, I avoided all games that required being a permanent member of a guild or warring party. But, having researched the possibilities of solo gaming and having been bored with most games I've been playing lately, I turned to World of Warcraft® for a breath of fresh gaming air. I have to admit that the worlds are rather awesome and the game play is challenging and a bit addictive. Time will tell if I can afford to continue. But playing for my free period has made me appreciate and understand what theWorld of Warcraft® gaming community has been enjoying for years. Wish my little Dwarf luck in her endeavors on the snow-capped mountains of Dun Morogh and Ironforge! World of Warcraft®©2004 Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. All rights reserved.
