Being a long-time fan of OK Go, I had to post this video link here. It's a beautiful video of their song Skyscrapers. Watch, listen and enjoy: Add Comment I've moved my gaming blog to WordPress. I like my privacy. You can find my old gaming guide blog posts there as well. Happy reading. TGFCoffee's Gaming Guide I'm tired of "stupid tax." 01/22/2012
Did you know that if a major retailer leaves a dolly or cart (which should only be handled by employees) in the parking lot of their store, near where the cars park and someone hits it which, in turn, causes it to hit your car, the retailer is not at all responsible? It's true. So, when you're parking, make sure you don't park near any carts or anyone else. A short walk to the store could save you having to pay "stupid tax" (as Dave Ramsey calls it) for repairing your, or someone else's, car when the cart/dolly hits the vehicle. I apologize for the rambling (most likely run-on) sentences. I now end my rant. Note added later: by the way the retailer's name begins with W and ends with T. You can guess which one it is. You Have To Try This Great New Game 01/18/2012
As you can see from this screenshot, it's awesome. is a great site for many new games. That's all for now. Remember to check out my other site for game reqs. You can find me there too. Just head out to: I've been in excruciating pain on and off since this last Sunday. This is ice-pick-through-the-jaw/teeth type of pain, comparable to migraine pain at its worst. Countless pain meds later, I still don't know where the pain is coming from. Initially, I thought it was my teeth. My teeth are due for repair so it fit. Except, taking Advil/Motrin/Ibuprophen isn't working anymore. And now taking Sudaphed or Benadryl makes the pain go away completely. Poof! Gone! Changes in air pressure make the pain come back or become worse. I'm still working on figuring out this new pain of mine. But, in case anyone else has been going through pain like this, I wanted to link to this resource: http://forums.bettermedicine.com/showthread.php/283-Excruciating-Jaw-Pain?p=53643#post53643 . Wherever this pain is truly located, I know I'm in store for either dentist or doctor visits to resolve it. Reading through the above site helped me to know I wasn't alone. That in itself is comforting. (This is NOT a paid advertisement.) Thirteen Moons by Charles Frazier 10/26/2011
I'm not usually a fan of stories about cowboys and Indians. However, to its credit, Thirteen Moons: A Novel Without giving too much away, all I can say is that I was immediately taken in by the narrative, by the very visual, sweeping descriptions of scenery and meticulous description of characters, and by the flavor of the historical period (namely pre and post civil war life among the inhabitants of the Cherokee Nation in the Appalachian Mountains). Although not historically accurate, this is a work of fiction after all, reading Thirteen Moons gave me a feel for what it might have been like to live and survive in that time of history. In fact, I re-read many chapters simply because the writing was so beautifully visual that I almost felt as if I were there in the mountains, being one with nature as it was back then. I highly recommend this book. (And, this is NOT a paid advertisement or review.) Check it out at your local library or online retailer. We mourn the loss of Steve Jobs 10/07/2011
I began developing my computer geekiness by working on an Apple IIe, many, many years ago. The trusty green screen text and welcoming computing environment made me want to learn how to use computers. When the Macintosh came out, I found it a bit more awkward to use than the IBM and Xerox PCs that were available to me. Thus, I defected to PCs and Windows machines and have been a PC user ever since. However, I never lost my respect and reverence for what I still consider to be the computers that have the best memory management capabilities out there. (This is of course my opinion. Your mileage may vary.) Therefore, when I heard of the death of Steve Jobs, I couldn't help but become quite upset. Steve jobs was more than just a computer and phone designer. He was an innovator, a genius. Recently, I saw this article and I felt that it this image, created by Jonathan Mak Long, was a wonderful tribute to the late Steve Jobs. I'm sharing the link here with you as well as the graphic image below. Apple Tribute Logo a Web Hit Rest in peace, Steve. And, thank you for changing the world for the better. **This is not a paid advertisement. I'm very impressed with this particular ad campaign. Not only does it involve a real, live treasure hunt, but it emphasizes the importance of getting out into the real world and exploring our wonderful country in a way that even had me (a Net junkie) smiling. Reminiscent of It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World; Masquerade; and other armchair treasure hunts, the Dodge Journey contest uses online clues and real world clues to help lead people to the hidden cars. Check out the search for the last Journey on http://www.youtube.com/Dodge. So kudos to the ad exec or execs who thought up this ad campaign! Way to go! Ok, let's try this post again (see previous post detailing how Weebly deleted my post). I was surfing the internet when a friend called out from her computer, "The copy editors must be asleep." I asked her what she was referring to then went to read the article for myself. Here's the offending line: "...he likes to keeps the TV on to stay informed...." ** Ok, who dropped the grammar ball here? This is a writer for CNN, this is true. However, that's what copy-editors are for! . Has CNN let all it's copy-editors and proof-readers go? And, it's not just CNN. Pick up any news paper, local or national and you'll find a host of articles and stories with glaring grammar errors. Did journalism suddenly decide that typos and grammar errors don't matter? I'm not perfect and I've had typos and grammar errors before too. However, I'm not a journalist working for CNN or The New York Times or the LA Times. I can't afford to hire a proof reader for my posts. You'd think that maybe journalistic institutions would want their copy to be flawless. Maybe not. Maybe they think that readers won't notice or that good grammar and spelling really doesn't matter all that much. Maybe they're right. However, I have the opposite opinion. But again, that's only my opinion. Actually, once you get past the glaring grammar faux pax, it's a really interesting article about a handy hack that will selectively mute your TV for you. Read it for yourself. **Referenced article: Hacked TV remote will auto-mute Snookie for you Weebly is Really Getting on My Nerves 09/11/2011
Just as I was about to insert html into my last blog post (you can't see it because Weebly glitched again), Weebly closed my blog and returned to my list of blog pages, deleting my new post. Nice, right? Weebly get with the program and fix this glitchy site! | Author's Bio and Info

I'm the mother of one and currently (and probably permanently) unmarried. I'm also a parent to a variety of pets including dogs, one cat, birds and one turtle. (No, I do not own a zoo!)
